"You Are Here" Project

This is a new project for 2012. This one involves drawing, location and social networks.

If you refer to the map below, you will see some small photo icons. Click each to see the drawings in their context. I encourage interested viewers to find these drawings and check in on FourSquare and share these with your friends. If you want to leave your mark on the drawings, please do so and be sure to take a picture as you share your location. Become the mayor of my drawing. Another benefit to you is that you can earn a "Warhol" badge (since it is in the art gallery category).

Why am I doing this? There are many reasons. I like the idea of people discovering odd or out-of-place things in the city. I like the serendipity of discovering little "trinkets" while walking or doing other activities.

I also enjoy discovering odd locations on FourSquare. I have noticed when I check in some locations so little odd venues. Most likely these are people's homes or venues with odd, funny, disturbing questionable names. For this project I am creating a venue for each drawing and if you are in the area eating at a nearby restaurant or shopping in a nearby store you might happen upon my art's venue. I am interested if people will check-in or seek out these pieces? Will they be shared? What will happen to these over time? What will people do to them? Will they disappear?

So go find some art in your city. First city is Collinsville, IL.
